Price change and distance from the high: spotting breakouts and pullbacks

The Price group in Trap Radar describes how far the price has gone and where it is now relative to the window's extremes: change over the window, distance from the high and from the low. It shows whether there was a run-up, whether a new high was made and whether a pullback has started.

What the Price group shows

  • Price change over the window — how many percent the price rose or fell, for example over 4 hours.
  • Distance from the high — how far the price is below the window high. A negative value close to zero means the price is at the top; −3% means it has already pulled back.
  • Distance from the low — how far the price is above the window low: this shows a bounce after a sell-off.

21 conditions in total on windows from 5m to 24h, each a threshold or a “from–to” corridor.

How it is used

Size of the move. For a short after a pump the run-up has to be there, but not extreme. Black Swan requires a 4h rise of 15% to 50%, Swan Precision 15% to 100%, Failed Breakout 10% to 40%. In the BTWUSDT signal of 17.10.2026 the 4h rise was 16.69%.

Failed breakout. Distance from the high catches the moment when a coin has made a new high but is already sliding. In Failed Breakout this is a required rule: distance from the 15m high between −4% and −0.5%. Zero would mean the price is still at the high, −4% and deeper — that the pullback is already large and the entry is late.

How to read it with other data

Price tells you what happened, but not why. The same 20% rise can be on new money (open interest rising) or on short covering (OI falling, liquidations rising). That is why in the demo radars price conditions always sit next to OI, RSI and CVD.

Common mistakes

  • Shorting just because a coin rose N%: the size of the rise doesn't tell you whether the fuel is gone.
  • Setting a threshold with no upper bound: it lets through listings and news that keep rallying.
  • Entering after the pullback from the high is already deep: the risk/reward gets worse.

FAQ

Why does Black Swan cap the rise at 50% in 4 hours?
The corridor filters out extreme cases like a listing or major news, where the rally may continue. For stronger run-ups there is Swan Precision — up to +100%, but with a much stricter liquidation condition.
What does a distance from the high of −0.5% mean?
The price is half a percent below the window high. In Failed Breakout it is the upper bound of the corridor: the pullback has started, but it is not too deep yet.
Can the Price group be used for a long?
Yes: for example, a drop over the window within a set corridor plus a distance from the low that shows a bounce has begun.
